Regional State League is back!

The Regional State League competitions are back for another exciting season, kicking off this Sunday 16 February with the GrainCorp Regional State League – Riverina at Temora Recreation Centre.

Six teams will contest for the GrainCorp Regional State League – Riverina title this season, including defending Champions Wagga Wagga 17s, starting with Day One of play this weekend before moving to Wagga Wagga for Day Two on Sunday 14 March.

After 15 round robin-matches the 2014 GrainCorp Regional State League – Riverina Champion will be decided when the teams head to Narranderra on Sunday 30 March to contest the finals.  The Riverina Champion will then be invited to contest the Inter-Regional State League Finals Day in Sydney on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 September, coming up against the other Regional State League Champions to determine an overall State Champion.

Netball NSW Regional Development Manager Nicole Bowles said she’s excited the Riverina competition is almost underway.

“I’m buzzing to see this year’s GrainCorp Regional State League – Riverina competition get underway this weekend.  It’s a wonderful opportunity to witness some of our region’s best netballers in action, as well as our regional umpires, and should be a great season,” Bowles said.

“Last year we saw Wagga Wagga 17s take out the title in a very closely contested season, and looking at the teams that will feature this year I daresay it will be even closer again in 2014. It’s also fantastic to see Temora back; it’s been four years since they last contested GrainCorp Regional State League – Riverina and we are excited to see them back in the fold.

“With such talent on display it would be terrific to see our Riverina community get behind us, so come down to Temora this weekend and catch all the action from 9am!” Bowles concluded.

Defending Champions Wagga Wagga 17s will open the season with a match against Griffith 17s, while Young 21s take on their younger counterparts, Young 17s, on the adjacent court.
