Five Regional Netball Associations will descend on the Anne Clark Centre this weekend, Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 September, vying to be crowned the 2014 GrainCorp Inter-Regional State League Champion.
The second instalment of the annual tournament will see Division One winners from the Hunter, West/Central West, Far North Coast, Northern Inland and North Coast State League competitions come together to crown the ultimate Regional State League Champion.
Orange Netball Association will return to defend their title after the West/Central West side took home the inaugural trophy last year. They head into the Inter-Regional State decider on the back of claiming their 18th consecutive GrainCorp Regional State League – West/Central West title in early August.
They will be joined by Newcastle (Hunter), Grafton (Far North Coast), Tamworth (Northern Inland) and Hastings Valley (North Coast) in the hunt for the 2014 title.
The regional finalists will contest five preliminary rounds over the course of the two days, before the finals are held on Sunday afternoon. The teams to contest each final will be determined by the ladder positions after the final preliminary round with first and second place to go head-to-head for the 2014 title.
Netball NSW Regional Manager Nicole Bowles said there was an air of excitement with the GrainCorp Inter-Regional State League drawing a close to competition for the season.
“After the success of our inaugural tournament in 2013, we are excited to see the return of the Inter-Regional State Final to the Anne Clarke Centre,” Bowles said.
“Throughout the year we’ve seen some fantastic netball in our regional community, and I’m looking forward to seeing that action continue this weekend. It’s also wonderful to see new teams this year contest the Inter-Regional tournament; hopefully it continues to grow so we can see all seven regional communities represented in future.
“I’d also like to thank GrainCorp for coming on-board as our Naming Rights Sponsor for this year’s competition. They already support our Northern Inland, Riverina and West/Central West competitions, and it’s fantastic to have their continued support in our regional netball community.
“Netball NSW would like to wish all our GrainCorp Inter-Regional State Finalists all the best for this weekend,” Bowles concluded.
