Schools Cup crown 2014 Champions

The 2014 Netball NSW Schools Cup has come to a close with the Champions decided today, Tuesday 16 September, at the Anne Clark Centre.

St Mary’s Catholic Primary School from the Hunter Region were crowned the Years 5/6 Mixed Division Champions, while Sydney Metropolitan schools The Hills Sports High School and Xavier College – Llandilo took out the Years 7/8 Girls and Years 7/8 Boys Divisions, respectively.

Netball NSW President Wendy Archer AM paid tribute to all the State Finalists who were amongst more than 5,000 players who participated in this year’s competition.

“To make it here today, to the Netball NSW Schools Cup State Final, is an achievement in itself and you should all be proud of yourselves and your teammates,” Archer told the audience during the presentations.

“Already we’ve seen the Schools Cup competition grow from one division into three, and I look forward to seeing that growth continue as we move into our new home, Netball Central, with the tournament being played at the Sydney Olympic Park precinct next year.

“Keep playing and enjoying netball, and I hope to see you all for an even bigger Schools Cup in 2015,” Archer concluded.

Twenty Regional Finalists from across the State descended on the Anne Clark Centre, ready to contest the final day’s play of the 2014 Netball NSW Schools Cup; all vying for an elusive 2014 title.

In its second year, the 2014 Schools Cup saw 30 Local Days and eight Regional Finals held across the State, with nearly 5,500 players taking the court for 548 teams representing 319 primary and secondary schools.

The 2014 Netball NSW Schools Cup is proudly supported by our Official Charity Partner The Kids’ Cancer Project.
