Following the inaugural competition which saw nearly 3,000 participants get involved, the Netball NSW Schools Cup is back for 2014!
The Netball NSW Schools Cup is an initiative from Netball NSW to provide New South Wales primary and, in 2014, secondary school students in Years Five, Six, Seven and Eight with the opportunity to enjoy netball in a fun and safe environment. 2014 has also seen the introduction of a boys’ secondary school division.
The 2014 Netball NSW Schools Cup is proudly supported by our Official Charity Partner The Kids’ Cancer Project.
School teams compete in round robin carnivals in their local area called “Schools Cup Local Days” from March – August, with overall winners from each “Local Day” progressing to a Schools Cup “Regional Final” in their area.
Victorious teams from Regional Finals will advance to the Netball NSW Schools Cup State Final, to be held at the home of Netball NSW on Tuesday 16 September, 2014.
The first Local Day of the 2014 competition is this Thursday 20 March at Nowra in the South Coast region.
Twenty-five schools from the surrounding areas, including Kangaroo Valley, Kiama, Albion Park, Shoalhaven and many more, will compete in Nowra with 27 teams contesting in the Years 5/6 Division and 13 in the Years 7/8 competition.
The winners will advance to the South Coast Regional Finals Day on Thursday 19 June… but before that happens, there will be many more schools in action across the state with Riverina, West/Central West and North Coast competitions beginning in April followed by Sydney Metropolitan, the Hunter, Far North Coast and Northern Inland.
