After a four year hiatus, Temora are back contesting the GrainCorp Regional State League – Riverina competition and played host for Day One action yesterday, Sunday 16 February.
Two teams from Wagga Wagga (Opens and 17s) and Young (21s and 17s), as well as Griffith 17s travelled to Temora Recreation Centre to contest the first four rounds of the 2014 competition, with Wagga Wagga Opens finishing the day undefeated.
In their first foray into the competition for a few years, young hosts Temora 17s built throughout the day including a strongly contested match against Griffith 17s where they fell short by a slim margin of four goals.
Wagga Wagga were the best performing Riverina town, with both their Opens and 17s posting big scores, while the highlight game of the opening round was the Young derby between the 21s and 17s which ended with the older counterparts winning by just one goal.
The teams will next travel to Wagga Wagga to contest Day Two of the GrainCorp Regional State League – Riverina competition at Bolton Park Stadium on Sunday 16 March. The six sides will compete in a further four rounds before contesting the Finals on Sunday 30 March in Narrandera.
