The Netball NSW Schools Cup is an initiative by Netball NSW to provide New South Wales primary and secondary school students with the opportunity to enjoy netball in an inclusive and enjoyable environment. The Schools Cup is available to male and female students from Public, Independent and Catholic systems in Years Five, Six, Seven, Eight, Nine and Ten.
Now moving into its fifth year, the Netball NSW Schools Cup has grown from 3000 participants in the inaugural year, to over 9000 participants in 2016!
How the Schools Cup works
School teams compete in up to three (3) Phases of Schools Cup:
Phase 1: Local Day – school teams compete in a round robin carnival in their local area from March-August. Winning teams can progress to the Regional Final.
Phase 2: Regional Final – winning teams from respective Local Days come together to compete in round robin games followed by a finals series at their Regional Final held from March-August. Winning teams can progress to the State Final.
Phase 3: State Final – winning teams from the 8 respective Regional Finals come together to compete for the illustrious Netball NSW Schools Cup. The State Final is held in the last week of Term 3 at the home of Netball NSW – Genea Netball Centre.

Competition: Scores will be kept and placings will be recorded. Teams will have the opportunity to progress through to Phase 2 and 3 based on their placings.
Non-competitive: To give more students the opportunity to experience the fun of Netball, each Schools Cup Local Day will host a “Non-Competitive” Division. Similar to a Gala Day, entered teams will play a series of round robin games where the emphasis is on fun and fitness, not results. Teams participating in this division will not progress to the Regional Final. Scores will be kept but no ladder or placings will be recorded. This category is designed for beginner teams.
*Please note: For the Primary category, teams can consist of all girls, all boys or a combination of girls and boys, and will play against each other in the same division. There is no girl:boy ratio required for mixed teams.
The 2017 Schools Cup State Final will be held on Tuesday 19 and Wednesday 20 September 2017 at Netball Central, Sydney Olympic Park.
Schools Cup entries for 2017 are now closed. Keep an eye out for 2018 dates and registrations which will be available shortly.
