Day 1 of the 2018 Netball NSW State Championships has drawn to close after a fantastic day of action at Gosford Netball Association.
And with two more days of action ahead before respective State Champions are crowned (winners of Opens and 17/U Championship Divisions), here is how things are looking in the different divisions in the 50th hosting of one of Netball NSW’s biggest competitions.
For full results and standings, please visit our dedicated State Championships webpage, but for now here’s a brief run-down.
Only Manly Warringah remains undefeated in the Open Championships after Day One. Wyong, Lismore and Charlestown all follow on 10 points, in second, third and fourth place.
Open Division 2
All top four teams have racked up 10 points each, with Westlakes District (first) and Coffs Harbour (second) only having goal average between them. Third is Great Lakes, while the fourth spot goes to Young & District.
Manly Warringah is sitting on top of the ladder, winning all six games of Day One. Penrith District and Newcastle are both five from five, sitting next at second and third place respectively. Rounding out fourth place is Northern Suburbs who lost one game out of six.
17/U Division 2
It looks to be a fierce competition for 17/U Division 2, with the top four teams all remaining undefeated after the first day, with goal average the only thing separating them. Hills District has pulled ahead with first place, followed by Bathurst, Charlestown and Southern Fusion.
17/U Division 3
Brunswick Byron lead the way with no losses out of six games and 12 points on the ladder. Tamworth and Musswellbrook played one extra game each, both of which were losses, and sit second and third respectively. Singleton comes in fourth place on 10 points.
