The Netball NSW (NNSW) Waratahs were triumphant in their only home fixture of the 2015 Australian Netball League (ANL), overcoming a tenacious Canberra Darters outfit, 60-48, at Netball Central on Saturday afternoon.
NetballNSWTV was there to capture the highlights, as well as catch-up with Head Coach Anita Keelan and stand-in Captain Nikki Deegenaars at the conclusion of Week 4 action, with both reflecting on what could have been had the NSW side had been able to find consistency earlier in the season.
Sitting outside the Top Four with three wins and four losses, the NNSW Waratahs now ironically rely on the Darters defeating 2014 Runners-Up the Queensland Fusion during Week 5 to have a chance at contesting the 2015 Finals Series.
“We’re still crossing everything we can [to qualify for the Finals Series] but I think sometimes in a campaign things seem to come together at the right time or the wrong time, and I think you can see [after today’s performance] if we had one more week, things were really starting to come together for us,” Deegenaars claimed.
“We sit back now, we take whatever chance we get given and if not, we know that today was the kind of team we know we could be and it’s good we could put it out for a home crowd.”
