Netball NSW’s National B Umpires Camp was back this year and better than ever. Participants from metro and regional areas journeyed to Genea Netball Centre on the weekend (Sunday March 18) for an all-day professional development session.
The event was presented by Sharon Kelly (Netball NSW umpire coach), Duncan Lang and Kylie Mulcare (Premier League & Metro League allocators), Hayley Burgess and Tamara Welsford (members of the 2018 Netball Australia Underage National Championships Umpire Pool), and Chris Hall (Netball NSW Technical Officials Coordinator).
The B Camp, which hosted 61 participants from as far as Ballina, Tamworth and Dubbo, focused on the needs of National B umpires to ensure they continue along their development pathway.
Over the course of the camp, the participants covered court and classroom-based items such as: game analysis, pre-season preparation, protocols and game management, rules forum, and updating accreditation and 2018 opportunities.
“I’d like to thank everyone that travelled near and far for what turned out to be a great day at this year’s B Camp,” said Hall.
“They had the chance to hear from the best in the business about how to equip themselves for their journey ahead.
“It’s vital that our umpires keep learning and improving their skills, and I have every faith that this group of umpires will succeed in that.”
