Thirty-five regional and metropolitan-based umpires were put through their paces on the weekend at the Netball NSW Umpires C Camp!
Held at Netball Central on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 March, the Netball NSW Umpires Operating Panel facilitated the camp that covered both theory and practical elements.
Presenter and mentor Alan Melville said, “All participants learnt a lot including the KPI’s of a C Badge umpire, techniques and their application, protocols and procedures for umpiring a State League game, and the positive way in which we coach and mentor umpires.”
Saturday was theory-based with participants taken through techniques, the practicalities of umpiring DOOLEYS State League, how to get the most out of working with an umpire coach and more.
On Sunday the umpires had the opportunity to put their theory into practice, officiating a round-robin involved 15 representative teams on the courts at Netball Central, with real-time mentoring and coaching on the sidelines.
Next weekend it is the B-badged umpires turn with the Netball NSW Umpires B Camp from Saturday 14 to Sunday 15 March.
