It’s less than two months to go until the third Oceania Netball Cup takes place at the Anne Clark Centre, on Wednesday 24 and Thursday 25 September, 2014.
The brain-child of NSW netball great Mo’onia Gerrard, the Oceania Netball Cup provides young female adults of all abilities with the opportunity to participate in two days of netball fun with a Polynesian theme.
Oceania Cup encourages people to come together and form teams to play in this enjoyable netball competition, whether friends, Club or Association teammates.
This year’s event will comprise of three divisions; 13/U, 15/U and 18/U.
Being of Tongan descent herself, Mo’onia is a champion for her Pacific Island friends and wanted to create a tournament to get girls active and feeling the benefits of playing netball.
“I come from a sporty family, so playing sport regularly has always been an important part of my life,” said Mo’onia Gerrard.
“Not only has netball helped me reach my dreams, but I have met some amazing people and made lifelong friends from playing the sport.”
“The Oceania Netball Cup was created with the vision of giving high school aged girls the chance to get together and play netball against each other in a relaxed, supportive environment.”
“While it’s about having fun, hopefully the experience of participating in the Oceania Cup encourages more girls to play netball and inspires them to achieve their own dreams,” concluded Mo’onia.
So grab your mates, register a team, and get creative with your uniform and team name ideas.
