Action heats up at night interdistrict


The action is heating up on Wednesday nights at the Anne Clark Centre with the 2013 Court Craft Plexipave Night Interdistrict competition in full swing.

Sixty-three teams have contested three weeks of the twilight tournament thus far, with Round Four action kicking off at 7pm this Wednesday 23 October.

Ladder leaders Eastwood Ryde remain the only undefeated side in Division One after three weeks of competition, however will have a strong test this week when they take on the third-placed Liverpool City at 7pm.  Sitting ahead of Liverpool on percentage is second-placed Northern Suburbs who will meet fourth-placed St George on Court C, while Bankstown City and Sutherland Shire will lock horns on Court D.

Manly-Warringah and Hawkesbury City share Division Two top honours – separated by a small goal percentage – with Randwick rounding out the top three.  Hawkesbury City and Randwick will meet on Wednesday night, setting up a tantalising contest between the ladder neighbours, while traditional rivals Sutherland Shire (7th) and Eastwood Ryde (8th) will also meet at 7pm on Court 1.

Hills District remains undefeated after three rounds, leading Liverpool City and Penrith who sit in second and third separated by a slim goal percentage.  Netball fans are in for some close contests this week with the latter two meeting on Court C at 8.30pm, while fifth-placed Randwick takes on sixth-placed St George on Court D.

Its Rivalry Round in Division Four this week, with teams taking on their neighbouring Association in Round Four.  Northern Suburbs will meet Ku-ring-gai on Court 5, Baulkham Hills and Parramatta Auburn will lock horns on Court 6, while Campbelltown and Liverpool City contest on Court 7 with all three games at 8.30pm.

Eastwood Ryde and Baulkham Hills have the opportunity to remain the only undefeated side in Division Five with the top two sides meeting on Court 8 at 8.30pm this week.  Less than 10 per cent separates these traditional rivals, setting up a close contest for netball fans.  Hills District and Camden meet at the same time on Court 9, with Manly-Warringah taking on Blacktown City on Court 10.

Baulkham Hills leads five teams in a tight Division Six contest, separated by goal percentage after three weeks of competition. One match to look out for this week is when neighbouring rivals Fairfield City and Mt Druitt take the court at 7pm, with the added interest of currently sitting in fourth and fifth place respectively on the ladder, setting up for a close contest.

Just like Division Six, Randwick leads five teams who are separated only by goal percentage – with just 20 per cent separating the five teams, setting up a thrilling Round Four.  One match for netball fans to watch for is fifth-placed Inner Western Suburbs taking on sixth-placed Blue Mountains on Court 9 at 7pm.

Three teams sit atop the Division Eight ladder undefeated thus far in the twilight competition.  Blacktown City, Penrith and Hills District are separated by goal percentage with each yet to drop a game.  Bankstown City and Inner Western Suburbs round out the top five, just one win away from the leaders.
