Come & try day at Bankstown

Netball NSW is proudly supporting Bankstown City Netball Association in hosting a Community ‘Come & Try’ Clinic at their Condell Park netball courts on Saturday 15 February.

This FREE clinic is for netballers of all abilities and skill levels, and a great chance to meet new friends while learning new skills in a safe & inclusive environment – from those who play with their school or local clubs, to those who have never played netball before!

After winning the Foxtel Diamonds for Dreams grant last year, Bankstown City will use some of the funds towards this event – including a barbecue for participants at the end of the clinic to mix and mingle with new friends.

Netball NSW Community Engagement Manager Kristy Guthrie said the ‘Come & Try’ Clinic was a great initiative from the Association.

“Netball NSW is thrilled to support Bankstown City Netball Association on their ‘Come & Try’ Day.  Their Board of Executives, including President Lee Hill and Vice President Wayne Chesterton, has been extremely proactive in engaging with the community and I’m excited to see lots of girls come and try netball for the first time,” Guthrie said.

Girls from 5 to 14 years old are being encouraged to come down to the Condell Park Netball Courts where Bankstown City Representative Coaches will take groups through a variety of different skills, drills, and fun games!

“Bankstown City is based in a predominately Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CaLD) community, and it is a goal of Netball NSW to capture a greater multicultural audience and engage them in netball.  The ‘Come & Try’ initiative blends perfectly with that strategy and hopefully we can see more Associations across the State adopt this type of event,” Guthrie said.

“It’s also brilliant to see the Bankstown City Council getting behind and supporting this event.  I’m excited and hopefully we see lots of girls have fun and sign up to their local Club this year.”
