Susan Pratley, Mo’onia Gerrard and Aussie debutant April Letton will meet their Aussie teammates in Dubai to embark on the second leg of their trip to London.
While all three have been training over the Festive break to keep up their fitness and skill levels, Dubai will be the first time the whole team will come together in preparation for their matches against world number three England.
Before embarking on her first tour as a Diamond, April told nswswifts.com.au that she was excited about getting together with the whole team.
“I’m really looking forward to our first training session together – Prats, Mon and myself have done some sessions together over the break, but this will be the first time the whole squad will come together on court,” said April.
“I’m so excited to be making the trip as a Diamond and getting onto the court with all the girls…I’m just not looking forward to the cold weather!”
Diamonds head coach Lisa Alexander named her 12-strong squad in November, with April and NSW representative Kimberley Ravaillion both announced as debutants after impressing at the World Netball Fast5 tournament in New Zealand. The Aussies will play England over three matches in three different cities, before returning to Australia at the end of the month.
While there is a real buzz to join her teammates in training, April says she is most excited at the prospect of playing in her first match as a Diamond.
“The last couple months have been so exciting, so hopefully I can train well and put myself in a position to get a chance to put it all into action on court against England,” April said.
