Fun and games for All Abilities

Netball NSW recently held a NetSetGO Gala Day at the Anne Clark Centre for students with a range of abilities to come and try netball.

On Thursday 6 November, 40 participants from four schools around the Sydney Metropolitan area and Central Coast gathered together to get active, learning new skills in a fun and safe environment.  Students from Cromehurst, Lalor Park Public, Erskine Park and Henry Kendall High in Gosford enjoyed a range of activities – from shooting to passing, balancing to jumping and catching.

Community Engagement Manager Kristy Guthrie said the clinic was another step in Netball NSW continuing to promote our sport in our community.

“It was a great day seeing so many students with a disability enjoy netball, and we received some really positive feedback from those involved.  We are always looking for ways to improve and getting more people involved in netball,” Guthrie said.

“We are back out in the community again on Thursday 13 November with a NetSetGO Gala Day at Bankstown City Netball Association, where will be holding sessions for Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CaLD) members to come and try netball. Hopefully we will see plenty of people there!”

Netball NSW recently brought you the story of some amazing initiative from Ku-ring-gai Netball Association in looking for more match-play opportunities for Players with a Disability (PWD).

After attending a PWD carnival run by Netball NSW in the Blue Mountains, Ku-ring-gai took the initiative to begin their own PWD Gala Day in October.  After inviting the teams they met at the Blue Mountains Carnival, Ku-ring-gai will take turns with Manly Warringah Netball Association and Baulkham Hills Shire Netball Association in hosting the PWD Carnival throughout the 2015 season and beyond.
