Netball NSW HQ is truly getting excited for one of our BIGGEST marquee events on the calendar – the 47th instalment of the Netball NSW State Championships!
This year’s tournament will be contested at Illawarra & District Netball Association from Saturday 6 to Monday 8 June, and will see 131 teams representing 74 Associations take the courts in Berkeley.
Held annually across the June Long Weekend, the 2015 tournament will be contested in nine age-divisions: Open Championship and Open Division Two; 21 & Under Championship; 17 & Under Championship, 17 & Under Division Two and 17 & Under Division 3; and Masters Division – Over 35, Over 40 and Over 45.
The title of State Champions isn’t the only trophy up for grabs when the competition wraps up at Illawarra. Introduced in 2009, the Pat Weston OAM Country Champions Cup is named in honour of Netball NSW and Parramatta Auburn Life Member Pat Weston OAM and awarded to the highest placed regional Association (outside Sydney Metro) in the Open Championship Division.
An incredible 1,277 games will be played across the three days, which will see more than 1,100 athletes taking the courts – with roughly 100kgs of ice for recovery baths, metres of strapping tape for ankles, wrists, shoulders, plus litres of recovery drinks… the list goes on!
And for those really wanting to look the part, Netball NSW Team Partner Coast2Coast are back on board with a brand new State Championships’ Merchandise range for 2015!
Pre-orders are open now and available until 11:59pm AEST on Sunday 31 May, making it easy to for you to pick up at the venue on Day 1.
