Kaitlyn Bryce was announced as the Marj Groves Scholarship recipient at the 2012 Netball NSW State Dinner last week.
The honour is awarded to an outstanding athlete within the NSW Institute of Sport netball program.
Kaitlyn joins a number of NSW’s brightest young talent as a recipient of this award introduced in 2007, including 2013 NSW Swifts Paige Hadley (2011) and April Letton (2007).
It has been a big year for the 17-year-old who was a part of the NSWIS Emerging Athlete Program in 2012; she captained NSW to the title at the 17/U National Netball Championships in April, and was rewarded with Tournament Most Valuable Player honours.
In June Kaitlyn was one of four NSW Institute of Sport athletes to travel to New Zealand for a number of friendly games, including against some of New Zealand’s best. Teaming up with athletes from the South Australian Sports Institute and Western Australian Institute of Sport in the combined tour, Kaitlyn had the opportunity to go up against Laura Langman and Casey Williams when the group took on the Waikato/Bay of Plenty Magic.
Named in the Australian 17/U squad, and an invitee to the Australian 19/U selection camp at the Australian Institute of Sport earlier in the year, Kaitlyn hit the court for NSW again in August to make her Australian Netball League debut for the Netball NSW Waratahs, helping them to a Runners-Up finish and in the same month winning the DOOLEYS State League Waratah Cup with Sutherland Shire.
Capping off her year Kaitlyn was last week named as one of four NSW athletes to be a part of the AIS netball program in 2013.
