This week 2,670 students from across the region will have the opportunity to represent their schools in the 2016 Netball NSW Schools Cup Local Days – in partnership with First National Real Estate.
The Netball NSW Schools Cup is an initiative to provide the state’s primary and secondary school students – from public, independent and Catholic systems in Years Five, Six, Seven and Eight – with the opportunity to enjoy netball in a fun and safe environment.
School teams compete in round robin carnivals in their local areas called Schools Cup Local Days from March – August, with overall winners from each Local Day progressing to a Schools Cup Regional Final.
Victorious teams from Regional Finals will advance to the First National Netball NSW Schools Cup State Final, to be held at the home of Netball NSW – Netball Central, Sydney Olympic Park – on Tuesday 20 September.
With an exciting number of registrations Netball NSW will welcome 113 schools and participants from West/Central West, Northern Inland, Riverina and the Far North Coast who will each hold their first Local Days this week.
While 2,070 students will participate in regional Local Days, the Northern Suburbs will host the first Metropolitan Local Day with a massive 600 students representing 60 teams – awesome!
Since last year participation rates for the Netball NSW Schools Cup Local Days have risen significantly resulting in full capacity days, including the Metropolitan area which received 22 more team registrations than in 2015.
The first Schools Cup Local Days will be held from Tuesday 17 May to Friday 20 May at various areas across the state including Dubbo, Tamworth, Wagga Wagga, Parkes and Grafton, and many more.
