Last night, Wednesday 3 June, saw Netball Central host the final round of its new competition, the Mid-Week Trophy, with Sutherland Shire claiming the inaugural title.
Introduced in 2015, the Mid-Week Trophy enabled teams who were balloted out of DOOLEYS State League to compete in a structured 12-week competition. The Mid-Week Trophy allowed players who would have missed out on experiencing Netball at a higher level, providing a pathway into the next level of Netball.
The competition began in late February and ran over a 12-week period, with Sutherland Shire finishing the round-robin tournament atop the ladder with Eastwood Ryde in second, Kurri Kurri/Hunter Flyers in third and St George in fourth.
Congratulations to Sutherland Shire and all Mid-Week Trophy teams who participated in the inaugural year.
