Some of the best international netball talent has gathered in Auckland, New Zealand, ready to contest the inaugural SANZEA tournament; the 2016 Netball Quad Series.

The Australian Diamonds will face off against New Zealand Silver Ferns, England Roses, and South Africa Proteas during the three-test series, which begins this Saturday 27 August at Vector Arena.

The Diamonds – featuring NSW representatives April Brandley (nee Letton), Kristiana Manu’a, Kim Ravaillion and Gabi Simpson – will be taking on South Africa in their opening match, which is being broadcast by Fox Sports 2 from 1pm AEST, as well as streamed via the Netball Live App.

“We expect a hard-fought contest against South Africa. Their team has gone from strength to strength under Norma Plummer’s leadership,” Diamonds Head Coach Lisa Alexander said from across the Tasman.

“Our Diamonds have put in the hard yards in the lead up to this series and the coaching staff are confident in our preparation. All 12 players will be ready to step out onto court on Saturday in numerous combinations.

“We will relish the moment when we stand arm in arm and sing our national anthem on court.”

Hosts Silver Ferns will take the court against England in the double-header on Saturday, before the four teams move onto separate cities to contest the second tests next Wednesday 31 August; while the Silver Ferns will remain in NZ to host South Africa at Claudelands Arena (Hamilton), the Diamonds and England Roses will head to Adelaide Entertainment Centre.

See below for further details, including player rosters, fixtures, and broadcast information for the 2016 Netball Quad Series.

In late news, Silver Ferns defender Anna Harrison has been withdrawn from the opening test due to a calf injury; Southern Steel Goal Keeper Jane Watson has been called into the team as a replacement. A member of the NZA side, Watson’s elevation marks the 26-year-old’s debut selection for the Silver Ferns.
