Dust off those tropical shirts and bring out those cool, laid-back island vibes … the Oceania Netball Cup is back for its third year, and we want you to join us for two days of FUN on Wednesday 24 and Thursday 25 September!
The Oceania Cup is a fun and relaxed carnival with the emphasis on having a good time with friends and enjoying netball – all with a distinct Polynesian flavour!
Held at the Anne Clark Centre for the last two years, the relaxed tournament focuses more on getting active and having fun, and is the brain-child of former NSW Swift co-captain Mo’onia Gerrard.
Being of Polynesian descent herself, Mo’onia is a champion for her Pacific Island friends and wanted to create a tournament to get girls active and involved in netball; It wasn’t about emphasising who won or lost, but about getting your friends together and having a good time!
Since its introduction 53 teams have participated, with teams contesting in three age divisions – 13U, 15U and 17U. Oceania Cup encourages people of all abilities to come together and form teams to play, whether friends, Club or Association teammates.
So grab your mates, register a team, and get creative with your uniform and team name ideas … plus, if you register before Friday 29 August, you’ll go into the draw to win Mo’onia for a game to cheer on your team, give some tips, to play water girl and more!
