Performance & Pathway Coaching

In 2022, Netball NSW will select a 17U and 19U team to represent the state at the National Netball
Championships and a Metro Emerging team and Regional Emerging team to play each other in an intrastate
tournament.

Athletes will be challenged and supported on and off the court to strive toward individual and team
success at the National Netball Championships, Metro V Regional Championships and beyond.

The closing date for Expressions of interest for all performance roles has been extended to Friday, September 10th.

tournament and a Sydney Netball Academy squad of 15‐16 year old athletes that show the
potential to progress in the Emerging Talent Pathway.

A Team or Squad Manager is a vital role within performance programs. It is their organization skills
that enable the program to run smoothly and a strong manager will be a catalyst in stimulating athlete
growth through nurturing an inclusive, safe, honest and calm environment.

The closing date for Expressions of interest for all performance roles has been extended to Friday, September 10th.

The Sydney Netball Academy Program is run by Netball NSW. It is one of twelve Netball Academies
throughout the state. The other Academies are run by Regional Academies of Sport (RASi) and Office
of Sport.

The focus of the program is individual and holistic growth for athletes aged 15 and 16 years of age that
show the potential to progress in the Emerging Talent pathway.

The Academy programs provide regular training sessions from January – April and July ‐ September,
enabling athletes to focus on representative netball in the lead up to State Titles. Training sessions
challenge athletes and umpire athletes to set individual goals and  strive for technical and tactical growth.

The Academy programs also provide a fabulous opportunity for aspirational coaches, umpire coaches, 
managers  and  support  staff  to  not  only  influence  the  growth  of  the  next  generation  and  play  a 
significant role in the long‐ term success of Netball NSW but through regular education and mentoring 
be challenged and supported in their own growth.

Netball  NSW  Performance  and  Pathways  programs  aim  to  lead  the  way  in  delivering  positive 
experiences that challenge and inspire a drive to strive for success. 

In 2022, Netball NSW appointed panels will select: 
- 17U and 19U State  teams each with  twelve athletes  to  represent the  state at  the National 
Netball Championships 
- Metro Emerging  team and Regional Emerging  teams each with  twelve athletes  to play in a 
Metro V Regional Championship 
- Sydney Netball Academy. This program focuses on individual and holistic growth for athletes 
aged  15  and  16  years  of  age  that  show  the  potential  to  progress  in  the  Emerging  Talent 
pathway. Forty‐ eight athletes will be selected in the squad. 

Effective talent identification, squad and team selection is a vital first step in Netball NSW creating a 
winning  culture.  Effective  selectors  will  have  strong  netball  knowledge  and  an  intuition  to  predict 
future performance based upon the current physical, technical, tactical and psychological qualities.
