On Thursday night, Sport NSW held the 2021 Community Sport Awards at Bankwest Stadium.
Recognising finalists and winners across ten award categories, the 2021 NSW Community Sports Awards highlighted the contributions made by officials, coaches, administrators, teams, clubs, events and Councils.
Congratulations to Bec Bulley who was awarded joint winner of the Community Coach of the Year Award.
In 2020, Bec led North Shore United to their maiden victory in the Origin Energy Premier League competition in the Opens Division.
Bec is an athlete-centred coach, a determined competitor with strong tactical intuition, a generous and effective coach educator, and a willing mentor to other coaches. To her players, Bec is both an inspiration and a support. She is well admired and respected in the Netball world. Bec has since been appointed Assistant Coach of the NSW Swifts.
The Awards evening also celebrated the prestigious Distinguished Long Service Awards presented to 23 recipients. These awards honour the individuals from a wide range of sports who have given exceptional service to their sport over a period of decades.
Ellen Monaghan OAM from Newcastle Netball Association received a Distinguished Long Service Award for her commitment to netball.
Ellen is the Vice President and a Life Member of the Newcastle Netball Association. She has been involved as an umpire and manager since 1980 and has held the role as manager of the Marie Little OAM Shield team since 2013, working tirelessly to support and promote opportunities for athletes with Intellectual Disability. Ellen is an outstanding member of Netball NSW – always going above and beyond in her many roles.
