We are pleased to announce our very first Valour Netty Legend of the Month, congratulations Linda Spruce (Maryland Wallsend Netball Club)!
Every month Clubs, Associations and members are asked to nominate a volunteer who has displayed one or more of Netball NSW’s values and behaviours and through this, created an exceptional experience for another member or members.
Nominated by Claire Brew (member of Maryland Wallsend Netball Club), Linda is a dedicated volunteer who gives her time to the Maryland Wallsend Netball club season after season even though she has not had children playing netball for well over 6 years.
In 2022 Linda, along with coach's convenor Claire, developed a club scholarship program aimed at supporting children in the community who were unable to afford the cost of netball to be sponsored by the club for three years of play. This included the cost of registrations, uniforms and appropriate netball shoes. The aim was to provide financial support to children in the community to participate in team sports such as netball and form essential life skills.
Linda shows respect to each and every player, coach, volunteer and association member. She values and recognises the contributions of others and supports up and coming umpires and coaches to achieve their goals.
Linda's umpiring mentor program allows players and parents to achieve excellence in a supportive manner. It instils confidence and determination in to its participants while fostering a deeper love for netball.

Linda is truly living up to the Netball NSW Values (welcoming, one team, best always, integrity and fun) and we are looking forward to recognising more Netty Legends throughout the season.
