Netball NSW advises that it is aware of the NSW Health advice regarding Hawkesbury Netball Association’s Mileham Street courts in South Windsor.
On Saturday 22 August a spectator who attended the courts has subsequently tested positive for COVID-19.
NSW Health have been in regular contact with Hawkesbury Netball Association over recent days and contact has been made with all people who were present on the same court as the spectator at the relevant times. Those people have been deemed to be ‘casual contacts’ and have been asked to monitor for symptoms and to get tested for COVID-19 at the slightest sign of any symptoms developing.
Anyone who attended the Mileham Street courts on Saturday 22 August should also monitor for symptoms. There is no requirement for any person present at the courts on Saturday 22 August to self-isolate – unless symptoms develop or if awaiting the results of a COVID-19 test.
A large amount of the Hawkesbury Netball Association’s courts and facilities have undergone a deep cleaning process as an extra precaution.
Competition will proceed at Hawkesbury on Saturday 29 August.
Netball NSW would like to commend Hawkesbury Netball Association for their management of this matter. The Association was acting in accordance with its COVID-19 Safety Plan, had records of all individuals (including spectators) present on the court during the game and have been able to provide all information as necessary to NSW Health.
We thank the Association’s executive and COVID-19 Safety Officer for their diligence, caution and communication with Netball NSW throughout.
Finally, this serves as a timely reminder for all Netball Associations to remain vigilant with all COVID-19 Safety Plans and protocols, the limiting of spectators to one person per child where adult supervision is necessary, and the regular enforcing of social distancing and good hygiene practices.
