Description The Intermediate umpire course prepares umpires transitioning and preparing for a umpiring who wish to be tested for their B Badge accreditation. It is designed to assist umpires become more efficient, preparing them to embark on new challenges, whilst assisting in the delivery of great umpiring to the community. What you’ll learn The characteristics and qualities of a good umpire The role of an umpire How to use appropriate communication methods within a match environment How to undertake strength and conditioning training to improve fitness levels Set personal goals and measure progress Tools to control match situations using accepted umpiring procedures and protocols How to display effective communication skills How to use appropriate vision, positioning, and timing skills Understanding the components of the obstruction and contact rule Managing the awarding and setting of sanctions When to apply the advantage rule Analyse your own performance and develop strategies for improvement. Requirements Open to all learners, however this course is a prerequisite to obtaining a B badge. Who is this course for C Badge umpires wishing to progress to a B badge and C badge umpires wishing to expand their knowledge.
Umpiring netball is a rewarding but challenging experience for any level of umpiring, especially for those who are refining their skills in a high-performance environment. The Advanced Umpire Course is a prerequisite for obtaining a National A Badge, the level required to officiate at National Championships and State League. The course is designed so that umpires achieve positive learning outcomes and assist you in becoming a more effective umpire and prepare you to embark on new challenges within Netball. What you will learn How to apply advanced knowledge of the Rules of Netball in real-game scenarios. How to strengthen critical thinking and practical judgement on court. You will gain an understanding of the role of game management, when to implement it, and the steps involved. Understand the importance of strength, conditioning, nutrition, and hydration for peak performance. How to apply correct warm-up, cool-down, and recovery strategies to prevent injury. How to use technology to support umpire development, including video analysis for self-review. How to implement strategies to manage nerves and handle common umpiring stressors. Strategies to maintain a healthy work/life/umpiring balance. How to set and work towards short- and long-term umpiring goals. Requirements Open to all learners, however this course is a prerequisite to obtaining an A badge. Who is this course for B Badge umpires wishing to progress to an A badge and any umpires wishing expand their knowledge.
The Rules of Netball Exam tests the basic rules of the game. It is an online examination that is accessible all year. A certificate is generated for all candidates who achieve a pass (70% or above). The most recent examination mark is the current result and Pass marks are valid for 4 years. It is highly recommended that prior to commencing this exam you read a copy of the Rules of Netball (2024).
