Due to COVID-19, Netball Australia has also unfortunately had to cancel the 2020 Marie Little OAM Shield, a national tournament for women with intellectual disabilities, which normally takes place in November. This was announced by Netball Australia last week alongside the decision that the Deakin University Australian Netball League will also not be going ahead.
Netball NSW Participation Manager, Melanie Chapman said "Netball NSW and everyone involved in the program are disappointed to not get a chance to compete this year, but understand the reasons why Netball Australia have had to make this decision with this disruption COVID-19 has caused.
“We have worked really hard to build a high quality program each year for the women who are selected to represent our state, we don’t want to lose that momentum,” she said.
“I know everyone involved from the players to the coaches and support staff will be eager to go again in 2021. We will all be working hard on and off the court to ensure New South Wales puts its best foot forward next year.”
