The 13th to the 15th April saw Southern Sports Academy host the annual Your Local Academy Games down in Wagga Wagga for its third year. This year, the Netball tournament had 300 athletes, 31 umpires and 15 umpire coaches and 56 coaches/staff participated across the weekend.
Your Local Club Academy Games showcases some of the states most talented emerging athletes across seven (7) sports including Basketball, Cycling, Golf, Hockey, Indoor Volleyball, Triathlon and of course Netball.
Our athletes, umpire athletes and coaching teams arrived from all over NSW and had representatives from all twelve (12) Academies. To see the full list of Academies please click here.
This year at the games, Jennifer Wright (current Waratah Academy Coach), Pate Cooper and Linda MacLeod assisting in mentoring our coaches and talent identifying the next generation of NSW athletes coming through our Netball NSW pathway.
Our Umpire coaches worked hard with the Academy umpires throughout the weekend and were able to badge 9 Umpire athletes.

At the end of the weekend The Rising Star Umpire Award was awarded. This is voted among the umpire coaches and was awarded to Keeliah Ridley from Hunter Academy of Sport
Throughout the weekend, coaches selected one athlete from the opposition team after each match as their MVP for that match. These points were added up at the end of the tournament and a Most Valuable Player (MVP) of each team was awarded.

A new venue was unveiled at the conclusion of the games to which will see Northern Inland Academy of Sport hosting the Your Local Games in 2025.
