Australia's 17/U and 19/U national squads have been selected following the recent National Netball Championships.
Representing a key step in the national talent pathway, the squads showcase the next generation of elite netball talent from across the country, paving the way for future national and international success.
The selections were informed by athlete performances at the recent National Netball Championships in Melbourne, where powerhouses South Australia and New South Wales claimed the 17/U and 19/U titles respectively – each delivering a remarkable back-to-backto-back achievement.
Netball Australia’s 2026 selection panel included Head of Pathway Selections Michelle Wilkins, Pathway Head Coach Anita Keelan AM, and Kristy Keppich-Birrell. The selectors were further supported by two panellists for each age group.
“The standard across this year’s Championships was exceptional, and these athletes have shown they have the potential to succeed at the highest level,” said Wilkins.
“This group represents the strength and depth of emerging talent in Australian netball right now, and we’re looking forward to supporting their development as they take the next steps in their high performance journey.”
The squads feature a mix of returning and new names, headlined by Queensland defender Ruby Stanford (17/U) and South Australian defender Jazmin McKay (19/U) whose standout performances at the Championships saw them awarded this year’s tournament Most Valuable Player awards.
Three of the selected athletes are currently linked to Suncorp Super Netball clubs, including GIANTS Netball’s eleventh player Skye Thompson and training partner Eva Carneiro, and Adelaide Thunderbirds training partner Jazmin McKay.
In July, the squads will enter national development camps designed to foster athlete growth. The camps will include specialist and skills-based court sessions, fitness testing and match play, alongside education opportunities in high performance behaviours and cultural literacy.
