Netball NSW's Performance and Pathways team have introduced performance sessions targeted at athletes in the hope to build excitement and confidence for upcoming netball trials.
On Sunday 11 October, more than 250 athletes took up the challenge to develop their individual skillset in the lead up to trials at six Metro and Regional venues around NSW.
Led by some of NSW’s most experienced coaches including High Performance Coach Maria Lynch at Netball Central, former Australian Diamonds Coach Jill McIntosh in Queanbeyan and Bec Bulley, GIANTS Academy Head Coach, in the Illawarra, athletes were treated to the same session run state-wide.
Sessions not only provided the opportunity to develop skills and fitness leading into trials, but were a chance for athletes to meet new friends and to emphasise the importance of being determined but also encourage them to relax and enjoy the trial experience.
Megan Anderson, Australian Diamonds Assistant Coach summed it up well when she said: “The only thing you can do when you get on the court is to do your best. Don’t compare yourself to others, just do the best you can do.”
There will be additional performance sessions this Sunday, 18 October in Sydney, Illawarra, Orange and Armidale however registrations for these have closed.
For Metro athletes there is a session on Sunday, 1 November at Netball Central. Registrations are still open and will close on Tuesday, 27 October at 5pm. Find out more.
