Eva Carneiro’s rise through netball has been nothing short of rapid, and she’s leading the way at every step.
Still early in her career, Eva has progressed from grassroots netball at Menai’s Flames to captaining a NSW State Team, all while balancing her final year of school. It’s a journey built on consistency, confidence, and a natural ability to lead.
Now, in 2026, she takes on one of her biggest roles yet - State Team captain.
“It’s definitely a privilege,” she says. “Even making a state team is such a big achievement, so to captain it is really special.”
Eva’s progression has accelerated quickly in recent years. After moving through Sutherland’s representative pathway and Sydney Netball Academy, she earned State selection in 2025 and gained her first Nationals experience. Just a year later, she returns as captain, bringing leadership and composure beyond her years.
Her development hasn’t stopped there.
Late last year, Eva received the call to trial as a training partner with the Giants, an opportunity that placed her in a high-performance environment alongside Suncorp Super Netball athletes.
“It was pretty surreal,” she says. “It wasn’t even something I expected, but I’ve just tried to take every opportunity with both hands.”
Now part of that environment, Eva is gaining invaluable experience, learning what it takes to perform at the elite level while continuing to grow her own game.
Despite her young age, Eva’s leadership extends beyond netball. As a school captain, she is used to guiding others, setting standards, and creating connections within a group, qualities she brings directly into her role on court.
“I enjoy leading and bringing people together. I try to lead by my actions and do what I can for the team.”
Off the court, Eva values balance. Whether it’s spending time with friends or family, she makes the most of her limited downtime, while still embracing the structure and discipline that comes with juggling elite sport and the HSC.
For Eva, netball is more than just a pathway—it’s been a constant in her life and a driver of her growth.
“It’s shaped who I am and how I approach things.”
With her rapid rise, exposure to elite environments, and strong leadership presence, Eva Carneiro is not only a captain for today, but a name to watch for the future.
Eva is set to lead her 19/U NSW squad at the National Championships from April 9–15 in Victoria. With the nation’s best young talent on show, the tournament marks another exciting step in her journey, one that fans can follow live via KommunityTV.
