In the lead up to HART Senior State Titles and as we celebrate National Volunteer Week 2025, we shine a spotlight on one of the sport’s quiet achievers — Sandra Dodd, Vice President of Kiama Netball Association, who has been a dedicated volunteer for more than 30 years.
This year, Sandra is once again travelling with Kiama’s 17s team as the Association Delegate at the Netball NSW HART Senior State Titles, marking her 30th State Titles appearance as a team official. And when you factor in the two years lost to COVID, Sandra’s unwavering service to representative netball spans more than three decades a remarkable milestone and a testament to her deep commitment to the game.
Sandra has served in a range of vital roles over the years. From manager and selector to liaison officer and administrator she is a pillar of both Kiama Representative Netball and the Gerringong Netball Club, where her presence has made a lasting impact on generations of players and volunteers.
“Sandra Dodd embodies the spirit of community and the power of volunteering. Her dedication over 30 years has helped shape netball in Kiama and beyond, and her tireless support of representative teams is an inspiration. Volunteers like Sandra are the heart of our sport.” said Trish Crews, Executive General Manager – Communities, Netball NSW
In line with this year’s National Volunteer Week theme, ‘Connecting Communities’, Sandra’s story highlights how volunteers build strong, inclusive environments where people of all backgrounds and abilities feel supported and valued.
“Sandra is the glue that holds our Representative program together. Her knowledge, commitment and care for our players and community are unmatched. We are incredibly lucky to have her, and we simply wouldn’t be the same without her.” said Michelle Gregory, President, Kiama Netball Association
As players hit the courts at State Titles next month, Sandra will be doing what she’s done for decades — supporting her team, mentoring young athletes, and leading by example. While she may shy away from the spotlight, her contribution to netball in the Illawarra and across NSW deserves to be celebrated loud and proud.
National Volunteer Week 2025 celebrates the power of volunteering to bring people together with the theme 'Connecting Communities'. Let's acknowledge the spirit of connection and the incredible impact volunteers have in building inclusive and thriving communities.
