After two years of COVID-19 interruption, Netball NSW is delighted to announce the return of the organisation’s State Dinner which will take place on Saturday 5 November at the Waterview in Sydney Olympic Park.
A night which celebrates the community across all levels of the game, it is one of the highlights of the Netball NSW calendar and an opportunity to reflect on all that has been achieved in 2022 as well as a look forward to 2023.
It will also be a very special night for the some of the greatest players to have ever donned a Swifts or Diamonds dress with Club Centurion and former captain Catherine Cox AM set to be inducted into the Netball NSW Hall of Fame, an honour she will share on the night with her teammates from the 2006 Sydney Swifts.
That side produced a 100% season to claim the Club’s third Premiership and the first of an unrivalled three-peat between 2006 and 2008, the last of which was achieved as the rebranded NSW Swifts.
Through the Hall of Fame, Netball NSW recognises the champions of the game, those who personify the spirit, excellence and skill required to reach the pinnacle of the sport.
These individuals and collectives are considered to be the “best of the best”; those who have given to the game beyond expectation, and who through their dedication and ability have achieved at the highest level.
As well as inductions, Netball NSW will also pay tribute to some of the game’s greatest volunteers from right across the state, while there will also be tributes paid to the following:
- NSW State Teams (17s, 19s, Marie Little Shield)
- NSW Representative Umpires and Bench Officials
- Anne Clark BEM Service Award Recipients
The following Awards will be presented on the night:
- Marilyn Melhuish OAM Super Netball Player of the Year (Awarded to a Member of either the NSW Swifts or GIANTS Netball)
- Margaret Corbett OAM Coach of the Year
- Neita Matthews OAM Umpire of the Year
- Lynn Quinn OAM Bench Official of the Year
- Dot McHugh OAM Administrator Award
- Judy Dunbar Media Awards
