As we took a brief pause on Metro League after the 2023 HART Senior State Titles, we thought it was due time for a wrap up. Division 1 & 2 completed their rescheduled round last Thursday and now all teams have seen through to Round 9 of the 2023 DOOLEYS Metro League.
Monday – Division 3 & 4
We are a further 5 rounds into the competition since our last wrap and their little change to Division 3. Randwick 2 are our ladder leaders, 3 points ahead of Camden & District 2 in second place. Randwick 2 have scored a whopping 475 goals so far, 44 more than any other team in their division so far, backed up by the lowest number of goals scored against them which is 24 less than any other team. We are eager to see if Randwick 2 can keep up their top performances and stay ladder leaders up until our next wrap up.
Division 4 competition is as tight as ever with only two wins separating first place from fifth place. Eastwood Ryde 2 and Hills District 3 sit on equal points in first place, with only a few goals separating their percentages. Round 10 could see a change in the ladder leaders, with the opportunity for one team to take first place with both hands.
Tuesday – Division 5 & 6
The second Suncorp Spirit Bank Award Winners were crowned in Hills District Netball Association Division 5.
The top three of Division 5 are looking strong. Sutherland Shire 3 has yet to drop a game, and sit one and two wins ahead of second and third place respectively. Baulkham Hills Shire have continued their winning streak, only dropping a match to the current ladder leaders in Sutherland Shire 3. Penrith District 3 are proving difficult for the top teams as they pushed Sutherland Shire the whole match, only losing be a mere two goals.
Central Coast 2, Bankstown City 2 and Randwick 4, are three of the four teams that qualified for Division 6 earlier this year in the qualifying competition. These three teams are now ladder leaders with Randwick 4 trailing their counterparts by 4 points, putting them in equal third with Shoalhaven Kiama 1. It is exciting to see new talent coming through and proving themselves out on court each week.
Thursday – Division 1 & 2
Division 1 & 2 have completed 9 rounds of the competition with the Round 2 catch up match being played last week.
Manly Warringah 1 are currently at the top of the ladder, with a close win tonight against Baulkham Hills Shire. Currently with a 4-point lead on the ladder, they are looking to extend the gap even further next week when they take on Inner West 1.
The mid table is extremely tight at this point of the competition, with 1 point separating 5th – 8th spot. Next week will ensure that we see some nail biting match-ups, with Sutherland Shire 1 taking on Central Coast 1 who are both sitting in battle of the mid table cluster. Who will break away from the cluster and take home the 2 points?
Division 1 is set to continue to be a tight affair. With Baulkham Hills Shire 1 and Hills District 1 scoring convincing wins this week over their opponents, they extend their lead at the top of the table by an extra 2 points. With 1 point the difference between 4th – 6th place, the next few weeks are set to see some nail-biting matches, as teams set their sights on a strong second half of the season.
