It was a week to remember for Netball NSW, with the state’s 19U team claiming gold and the 17U side securing a hard-fought silver at the 2025 National Netball Championships.
With passionate home-crowd support behind them, both teams showcased the depth, determination and talent that continue to make New South Wales a powerhouse in Australian netball.
NSW 19U Strike Gold in Style
After a challenging tournament campaign, the NSW 19U team saved their best performance for last — overcoming Victoria in a thrilling grand final victory.
Having dropped three games earlier in the week, the NSW athletes showed remarkable resilience to regroup, learn from their setbacks and peak when it mattered most.
Taking control through the midcourt, Nevaeh Matenga was a standout, steering her team with poise and precision. Her outstanding efforts earned her Grand Final MVP honours, a fitting reward for a player who embodied the team’s grit and composure throughout the championship.
The NSW side executed their game plan with discipline and confidence, running out seven-goal winners to secure the national title in front of an electric home crowd.
17U Shine Bright with Silver
Not to be outdone, the NSW 17U team also impressed on the national stage, finishing the week with a silver medal after a series of standout performances.
Displaying composure beyond their years, the young side consistently tested their opponents and demonstrated the exciting future of netball in New South Wales. Their journey to the grand final was marked by teamwork, defensive intensity and moments of individual brilliance that thrilled spectators.
Congratulations to both the 19U gold medallists and 17U silver medallists — an inspiring result that caps off an unforgettable week of competition and celebration for Netball NSW.
