Netball NSW are pleased to announced that Tim Fava has been appointed the organisation’s new Executive General Manager – Community & Pathways.
An experienced executive, Fava joins the Leadership Team having previously held senior roles at AFL NSW/ACT and most recently worked for Multicultural NSW.
Leading the Netball NSW Community Team, Fava will oversee the development and execution of Netball NSW’s participation and pathway programs as well as a range of other initiatives including Association development and inclusion programs.
Netball NSW CEO Tain Drinkwater welcomed him to the organisation:
“From leading our relationships with Clubs and Associations to ensuring netball is a safe space with opportunity for all in both the grassroots and elite spaces, Tim’s role is a vital one to our organisation.
“Tim has significant exposure across sports and government, and is highly regarded in his ability to build strong stakeholder and community engagement. He also has a good track record of implementing growth initiatives, and utilising data and technology to innovate product offerings in non-traditional markets for growth in participation and government grants.
“As well as working with Multicultural NSW, he also led national AFL strategy across schools, alternative formats and non-traditional markets, and we very pleased to have him join our Leadership Team.”
Fava said he was excited to get started in his new role:
“I have long admired how netball leads the way for women in Australian sport and its many achievements: from huge grassroots numbers to international excellence via the Australian Diamonds,” he said.
“What I have really liked in recent times is netball’s desire to cast its net wider to ensure it doesn’t confine itself to one audience. There is enormous untapped potential for this great game, and some of Netball NSW’s recent initiatives like the Inclusive Uniforms excite me.
“Of course, the game in NSW wouldn’t have the stronghold it does today without the tireless efforts of the game’s community at Clubs, Associations and Schools, and I – along with my team – am looking forward to working closely with them to help further elevate netball’s standing in all areas.”
Fava will join Netball NSW from Wednesday 9 February.
