Netball NSW is proud to announce the finalists for the Margaret Corbett OAM Coaches Award – Coach of the Year, which will be presented at the 2025 Netball NSW State Awards on Saturday 1st November at Bankstown Sports Club.
Named in honour of the late Margaret Corbett OAM, one of the most influential coaches in NSW netball history, the award is especially meaningful this year following her passing. It stands as a fitting tribute to her remarkable legacy, recognising excellence in coaching across Netball NSW competitions and celebrating Corbett’s lifelong contribution to the sport as a Life Member, Hall of Fame inductee and, since 2019, a Netball NSW Legend.
The award acknowledges coaches who demonstrate outstanding results, a commitment to player development, dedication to mentoring other coaches, and true sportsmanship both on and off the court.
The 2025 finalists are:
Brie Tier – Randwick Netball Association
Brie has built her reputation as a creative and driven coach, refining her skills through Randwick Netball and school coaching roles. Her ability to combine technical development with team culture and fun has delivered outstanding results, including back-to-back State Championships.
Carolyn Burgess – Barellan and District Netball Association
Carolyn has been a tireless advocate for netball in her small rural community, mentoring younger coaches and sharing her knowledge to strengthen the region. Her leadership has ensured local players have access to quality coaching and pathways comparable to those in larger centres.
Nardia Trevor – Baulkham Hills Shire Netball Association
Nardia is recognised for her holistic coaching philosophy, fostering both player performance and personal growth while championing values such as resilience and teamwork. She has achieved remarkable success with her teams, including undefeated Netball NSW Premier League seasons, podium national finishes, and support for initiatives like the HeartKids Cup that expand opportunities for regional athletes.
Tim Fava, Executive General Manager of Strategy at Netball NSW said the award reflects the vital role coaches play in growing and sustaining the game.
“Coaches are at the heart of player development and community success. These finalists exemplify excellence, not only through results on the court, but also by nurturing talent, supporting emerging coaches, and building inclusive environments that allow players to thrive,” he said.
The winner of the Margaret Corbett OAM Coaches Award – Coach of the Year will be revealed at the 2025 Netball NSW State Awards. Hosted by Carolyn Swindell from the No Dribble Podcast, the 2025 State Awards Dinner is a night not to miss as the netball achievements of 2025 are celebrated.
