Netball NSW is proud to announce the finalists for the Community Excellence Award, to be presented at the 2025 Netball NSW State Awards on Saturday 1st November at Bankstown Sports Club.
The award recognises affiliated Woolworths NetSetGO Centres, clubs, and associations that demonstrate outstanding leadership in operations, foster growth and sustainability, and create inclusive environments where every participant feels welcome. Finalists are organisations that embrace innovation and best practice, delivering opportunities that strengthen their communities and the future of netball.
The 2025 finalists are:
Ballina Netball Association
Ballina Netball has built a strong culture of growth and inclusion, offering a diverse competition calendar with indoor, winter, twilight, mixed, and All Abilities options that welcome players of all ages and genders. Their thriving representative program spans juniors to seniors and has delivered success at state level, including winning both junior and senior Suncorp Spirit Awards in 2025.
Inner West Netball Association
Inner West Netball continues to strengthen its community connection through engaging initiatives such as Shoosh for Kids, Woolworths NetSetGO Gala Day, and Kids Cancer Council Crazy Hair and Sock Day. The introduction of Walking Netball and an All Abilities program this year reflects their commitment to innovation and ensuring netball is accessible to all.
Randwick Netball Association
Randwick Netball has transformed Heffron Park into a vibrant hub, attracting more than 10,000 visitors each Saturday and delivering a broad range of programs including a Spring Competition, All Abilities netball, and a booming Woolworths NetSetGO membership. Their leadership in facilities development, partnerships, and recognition initiatives continues to inspire participation and community pride.
Blue Mountains Netball Association
Blue Mountains Netball has led the way in inclusivity with its Walking Netball program, which now runs twice a year and attracts more than 60 participants of all ages. s. They also support an All Abilities team with players progressing to the Marie Little Shield Tournament, while their newly established men’s representative program is breaking ground for male athletes in the region.
Trish Crews, Netball NSW General Manager – Communities, said the award highlights the vital role grassroots organisations play in shaping the sport across the state.
“Clubs and associations are the heartbeat of netball in NSW. These finalists have each demonstrated excellence in governance, innovation, and inclusion while creating sustainable pathways for participation and growth. Their leadership ensures that netball remains a thriving, welcoming, and future-focused sport at every level,” she said.
The winner of the Community Excellence Award will be revealed at the 2025 Netball NSW State Awards, a night dedicated to celebrating the people and organisations who make netball such a powerful force in communities across NSW.
Hosted by Carolyn Swindell from the No Dribble Podcast, the 2025 State Awards Dinner is a night not to miss as the netball achievements of 2025 are celebrated.
