After the 2021 competition fell victim to the COVID-19 pandemic the Origin Energy Premier League is roaring back to life in 2022 and all the action gets underway in just 50 days’ time!
All 10 franchises have been busy in pre-season as the best talent in NSW gears up for 14 Rounds of regular season action across both Opens and Under 23s Divisions, with the best contesting a Finals Series.
Round 1 takes place on Wednesday 6 April, and if you can’t make it to Netball Central to support your team don’t worry, our friends at Cluch TV are back to deck to broadcast every minute of every game live and free!
As NSW’s local elite competition and main pathway to the NSW Swifts and GIANTS Netball in Suncorp Super Netball, the standard of competition will be top class.
Netball NSW is also proud to announce that a number of new community initiatives will be added to the 2022 season, while the ever-popular Indigenous Round is also returning.
“In 2022 Netball NSW is excited to continue with existing community rounds and will be introducing new ones,” Claire Dale, Competitions Manager at Netball NSW, said.
“We are in the final stages of planning what these new initiatives will be and are looking forward to revealing more details soon.
“After a very disappointing 2021 we are pumped and ready to make this year the best season of Premier League to date."
Dale said the Premier League was proud of the calibre of athlete each franchise will bring to Sydney Olympic Park weekly, and said it was a testament to the work done at each of them.
“Last year, before lockdown, we saw players from both the NSW Swifts and GIANTS take the court in Premier League for game time, and they went on to contest the Super Netball Grand Final,” she said.
“Each franchise has the best up-and-coming talent and so many players from the Swifts and GIANTS Academies are spread throughout the league… this is really where the next generation of Diamonds is coming from.
“With a new format and every game available to watch are so excited about what this competition has achieved in its short history, and where it can continue to go.
"Also, watch out for games coming your way in 2022 as Premier League will see teams host matches in their own community for the first time."
“We cannot wait to see Netball Central buzzing again on Wednesday nights.”
Nebtall NSW has also lauched a new Facebook Page for the competition in 2022, which you can follow HERE.
