As the 17U State Netball coach for 2026, Nardia Trevor is preparing her team for what promises to be an exciting, high-stakes journey to the 2026 National Netball Championships, held from 9-15 April, in Melbourne. Having taken the reins of the team in 2025, where they finished overall, Nardia is now focused on ensuring that this year’s squad continues to build on their strengths focusing not just on results, but on the process of growing as athletes and as a team.
Nardia Trevor has become a well-known figure in the NSW Netball scene, with an extensive coaching background that includes working with some of the best in the business. Having served as an assistant to prominent coaches like Amber Cross, Pate Cooper, Abbey McCulloch and Nerida Stewart – current GIANTS Netball Head Coach, she has been exposed to high-level coaching techniques and philosophies. This year, Nardia is focused on instilling her own philosophy into her squad, emphasizing the value of patience, teamwork, and process-driven development.
“This year, we’re really focused on the process, not just the result,” Trevor
“The girls are incredibly talented, and we know the results will follow if we stick to what we’ve been working on. It’s about refining the little things, building the right habits, and keeping a steady mindset then the performances will speak for themselves.”
Nardia’s coaching journey has been one of growth, experience, and success, beginning in her own playing career before making the transition into coaching. She’s no stranger to the highest levels of netball, having played as NSW member (#28) in the early 2000s. As part of the 2004 Premiership-winning team and a 2005 runner-up, Nardia’s playing career offered her a front-row seat to the mental and physical demands of the game.
During this period, her passion for the sport grew, leading her to transition from player to coach. She reflects on her roots in Baulkham Hills Netball Association describing it as the place where she began her journey and first learned the true meaning of teamwork.
passion for coaching quickly translated into remarkable success. From 2016 to 2018, she guided North Shore United to a premiership in the then 20U Netball NSW League competition and more recently, she led GWS Fury to a memorable Netball NSW League Grand Final victory in the 23U division. Building on this impressive track record, she has been appointed as the South Coast Blaze 23U Head Coach for the 2026 Premier League season.
Yet, even with her impressive coaching resume, Trevor remains grounded and committed to her roots in the sport. Her focus for the upcoming Nationals is clear: it’s about the team.
“This group of girls is something special. They are a great bunch—so dedicated, so eager to learn, and incredibly supportive of each other,” she shares with pride. “What I love most is that they’re always pushing each other to be better, whether that’s on court, in training, or as people. That’s what really excites me about this team.”
With Nationals on the horizon and the state team fully focused on their preparation, Nardia Trevor’s leadership promises to bring the best out of her young athletes. It’s a journey of growth, process, and connection that will not only set them up for success at Nationals but will also help shape them into the leaders of tomorrow.
