Beginning this weekend with Suncorp Super Netball, and continuing across next week with all Dooleys Metro League and Netball NSW Premier League matches, Netball NSW will be celebrating First Nations Round.
Coinciding with National Reconciliation Week, First Nations Round recognises the histories, cultures and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to the sport of netball and to the nation.
This Sunday, two teams of Netball NSW's Emerging Talent First Nations athletes have been selected to take on each other in the curtain raiser to the GIANTS Netball vs Queensland Firebirds Game at Ken Rosewall Arena.
For a full list of selected athletes, coaches and umpires please click here.
The match will also be live streamed via Cluch TV (watch here), so if you are unable to make the game make sure you tune in to see some of the amazing talent that is coming through the pathway system. Catch all the action from 1pm.
The National Reconciliation Week theme for 2023, ‘Be a Voice for Generations’ urges everyone to act today for a more reconciled country. This theme will be carried throughout Netball Central next week with various activities and performances..
This year we will again be supporting Redfern Jarjum College through ticket sales and the donation of umpire and bench official match fees at both the Dooleys Metro League and Netball NSW Premier League respectively. Redfern Jarjum College’s mission is to educate, empower and support urban Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children.
Netball NSW encourages you to join us Wednesday 31st May for a special opening ceremony at Netball Central before Premier League games begin, with formalities beginning at 5:30pm.
