Netball NSW was delighted to see a big uptake of the organisation's new online Coaching and Umpiring Workshops which started via Zoom last night.
Session 1 for was for both coaches and umpires, with 25 participants taking up the opportunity to hear from NSW Institute of Sport and NSW Swifts sports psychologist Karen Haddad, who presented strategies on how to connect, listen and inspire athletes and officials in isolation.
Haddad had some fabulous advice including “Check in with the person first – then check in with the athlete”.
On top of this, 25 umpires were treated to 2019 Netball Australia Umpire of the year Michelle Phippard sharing her knowledge on the topic of advantage.
"Netball NSW is thrilled with the response to Connect & Learn as it demonstrates the growth mindset and commitment of our workforce," Netball NSW Pathways Manager, Margaret Hamley, said.
"The Performance and Pathways team will announce additional Workshops, including for Coaches working at the vital participation level next Wednesday at midday and we encourage all interested coaches and umpires to register on the Netball NSW website."
