One of the greatest ever players to don a Swifts dress, Ali Broadbent is a proud centurion of the Club.
A multiple Premiership winner with the Sydney Swifts (now NSW Swifts), she also enjoyed a proud international career with the Australian Diamonds.
One of her greatest moments came in the 2004 Grand Final when the then Swifts faced off with the Melbourne Phoenix (now Melbourne Vixens). With the game on the line, Broadbent made a brilliant defensive read to intercept the ball and effectively secure the Swifts' second Premiership.
Broadbent overcame two knee reconstructions early in her career to become a top line player. Her defensive combination with Liz Ellis was strong both domestically for the Swifts and also internationally with the Diamonds.
Broadbent represented Australia at two Commonwealth Games – being part of the gold medal side at Manchester in 2002 – and the 2003 Netball World Cup.
She made more than 150 appearances for the Swifts in the Commonwealth Bank Trophy before retiring at the end of the 2006 season.
She was inducted into the Netball NSW Hall of Fame in 2015.
