Amy Dobbie* (nee Hickey) had an outstanding contribution to netball as a player, coach and manager covers many years at the National and International levels.
She was first selected a player in the NSW state team in 1938. Following the break in World War II, Amy was selected as Vice-Captain of the state team in 1946 and was again Vice-Captain from 1948–1949. Amy was appointed Captain of the state team from 1950 until 1952.
Amy’s talent was also recognised at the Australian level when she was an invitee to play for Australia against New Zealand in 1947.
Following her retirement as a player Amy continued with the NSW State team either as a coach or manager of the team from 1954 until her retirement in 1975.
She was inducted into the Netball NSW Hall of Fame in 2004.
