Kimberlee Green OAM's remarkable netball career is a testament to exceptional talent, dedication, and leadership.
Beginning her journey with St. Patrick’s in the Sutherland Shire, Kim’s potential was evident early on as she represented Sutherland Shire Netball Association in State Age and State League.
Better known as Kim, at just 16 she joined the Sydney Swifts (rebranded as NSW Swifts in 2008) and quickly showcased a profound understanding of the game, earning her reputation as a dominant and relentless mid-court player.
Kim’s career is distinguished by her remarkable consistency and loyalty, spending her entire professional journey within New South Wales at both the Swifts and GIANTS Netball.
She navigated the Netball NSW pathway from underage teams to the State Opens team, making a significant impact in both domestic and international arenas.
Her tenure with the Swifts was particularly notable, with her contributions spanning the Commonwealth Bank Trophy and ANZ Championships. Kim was a key player in the Swifts' Championship victories in 2004 and the unmatched 2006-2008 Premiership threepeat.
Her leadership qualities shone brightly when she captained the Swifts from 2012 to 2016, culminating in back-to-back Grand Finals in 2015 and 2016.
Kim's influence extended to the newly formed Suncorp Super Netball competition, where she was the inaugural captain of GIANTS Netball from 2017 to 2019, guiding them with skill and authority, including a Minor Premiership in 2018.
On the international stage, Kim earned 74 caps for the Australian Diamonds.
Her illustrious achievements include winning gold at the 2011 and 2015 World Cups and the 2014 Commonwealth Games, leading the team as vice-captain in 2013 and 2014.
Her contribution to the Australian Fastnet team and her role in securing victories across various Test Series underscore her exceptional career.
Kim’s excellence on and off the court has been recognised with numerous awards, including the ANZ Championship's joint Most Valuable Player in 2014.
Her dedication was further honoured with the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in 2022.
Kim’s career embodies excellence, leadership, and a profound impact on the sport of netball. Her 2024 induction into the Netball NSW Hall of Fame is hugely merited.
