A Netball NSW Hall of Fame Inductee in 2007 and hailing from Randwick Netball Association, Nicole Cusack showed great talent from a young age and was picked up by New South Wales selectors in the NSW 17/U team in 1982, 19/U team 1983, 21/U team 1984 –1986, and made her first Open team appearance in 1986.
A natural athlete, Nicole excelled in junior sports and could have represented Australia in a number of them. Luckily for us, Nicole chose netball and was a member of the national team for ten years 1989–1998 and state team for 12 years (1986–1997).
Nicole played a key role in the most prolific state team in New South Wales history. The NSW Open team won the national title nine times during Nicole’s era, eight of them consecutively and she captained the side in 1997.
Known to change the course of many games with her great turn of speed and skilful play making, Nicole retired in 1998 after appearing in 52 Australian test matches, securing a world championship title in 1995, and a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur.
With so much experience and knowledge of the game, Nicole continues to be involved as a mentor and coach developing the next generation of netball athletes.
