Pat Weston OAM* was involved in netball across the State of NSW for many years.
A strong administrator in an era where there was little support for women’s sport, Weston was part of a group of women at Netball NSW who simply got on with the job and provided the best they could for our sport.
Weston was the founding President of the Parramatta/Granville Netball Association, Cobar Netball Association, Tamworth Netball Association and the Northern Suburbs Netball Association.
As demonstrated below, she held almost all administrative positions at Netball NSW and as a result was given Life Membership in 1978. She was the organisation’s President from 1988-1997.
In 1993 Weston was awarded an Order of Australia Medal for her services to Netball.
Her dedication and commitment to the game in NSW was outstanding.
In recognition of this Netball NSW instigated the Pat Weston Country Champions Cup which awarded to the highest placed regional team at the State Titles. The award still handed out today.
She was inducted into the Netball NSW Hall of Fame in 2023.
