The Netball NSW Premier League continues to showcase the state’s top emerging and established talent, and this week the spotlight falls on GWS Fury, a franchise with deep roots in Western Sydney and a strong reputation as a high-performance pathway.
Founded in 2015 as one of the league’s foundation clubs, GWS Fury is proudly owned and operated by the Blacktown City Netball Association. That connection gives the franchise a uniquely community-driven identity, linking grassroots netball directly to elite development opportunities. Representing one of the fastest-growing netball regions in New South Wales, Fury has built a reputation not only for nurturing talent, but for maintaining strong engagement with its local community.
Over the past decade, the club has become a key steppingstone for Western Sydney athletes, with many players advancing to state teams, national squads, and the Suncorp Super Netball pathway.
Fury’s 23 and Under programs have been a standout, claiming Minor Premierships and Premiership titles in 2019, 2023 and 2025. Fury now returns in 2026 as the defending premiers in the 23U division, further cementing its status as one of the league’s leading development programs.
The recent launch of the GWS Fury Academy further strengthens this pathway, providing junior and emerging athletes with expanded opportunities to develop while remaining connected to their local region.
Off the court, the club’s culture is shaped by a network of dedicated coaches, volunteers, and performance staff. Fury prides itself on values of grit, energy, respect and community pride; qualities reflected in both its on-court performances and organisational strength. With its distinctive colours, strong visual identity and growing supporter base, the franchise has become one of the most recognisable in the Premier League.
Community engagement remains central to Fury’s mission. Players and coaches are actively involved in grassroots programs, development squads and coaching clinics, helping young athletes see a clear and achievable pathway from local netball to the Premier League stage.
Through school visits, mentoring and local events, Fury athletes continue to serve as role models and ambassadors for the sport across Western Sydney.
Looking ahead, GWS Fury is focused on strengthening opportunities for local athletes while continuing to build a culture that celebrates both performance and community pride. As defending 23U premiers with a strong development system and passionate supporter base, the franchise is well positioned to continue shaping the future of netball in Western Sydney.
