It was wonderful to finally be able to share our endorsed Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) with our netball community through our RAP Webinar Series.
Each week we were lucky to be joined by members of our RAP Working Group and wider netball community. Attendees had the chance to listen to and learn from our incredible panellists who are doing amazing things to create welcoming and inclusive environments and increase the number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander players by;
creating opportunities,
"....it's about the role we can all play and the contribution each of us can make in ensuring we can effect change in this space for our sport and for our women and girls. Please walk beside us so we can do this together." - Alison Tucker-Munro, Netball NSW RAP Working Group Member & Head Coach of GIANTS Academy
building relationships,
"having an opportunity where we could come together and celebrate community and culture and sport and all the things that we as Aboriginal people like to do in a competitive environment and where everyone is having fun and is comfortable." - Donna Cody, Project Officer, Indigenous Sport & Recreation - Office of Sport & Netball NSW RAP Working Group Member
and showing respect for Aboriginal people and their culture,
“It is where we start our common understanding, without respect there is no common ground, it is important that we have respect for one another and each other’s views on why an Indigenous round and acknowledging cultures is important” - Georgina Cohen, Lismore Bundjalarms Netball Club & Netball NSW RAP Working Group Member
Netball NSW would once again like to thank all of our panellists who joined and provided their knowledge and experiences to those who were watching.
The launch of our RAP is just the start of our Reconciliation journey, Netball NSW is excited to be taking the next step as we begin to implement the actions within our Reflect RAP. In Webinar 1 we heard from Netball NSW CEO Tain Drinkwater about the importance and purpose of the RAP not just for Netball NSW but for the whole netball community, inviting Associations and Clubs “to use our RAP to inform and educate your local community”.
