A netball ring has been installed inside NSW Parliament House, marking a symbolic show of bipartisan support for netball in New South Wales and beyond.
The initiative, led by the Parliamentary Friends of Netball and spearheaded by Member for Auburn, Lynda Voltz MP, highlights the strength of netball’s presence in communities across the state and reinforces the sport’s vital role as the leading choice for women and girls in Australia.
The installation celebrates the continued momentum towards the 2027 Netball World Cup, to be hosted in Sydney, and underscores the importance of ongoing investment in netball’s growth and legacy. From community programs to infrastructure development, the “Road to World Cup” is not only about delivering a world-class event — it’s about ensuring lasting benefits for generations of players.
Netball NSW CEO Tracey Scott said the display at Parliament House was a powerful demonstration of support for the sport.
“It really is fantastic to see a netball ring set up in the grounds of Parliament. This show of support reinforces netball’s importance in the social and sporting fabric of NSW, from grassroots to elite to Government officials, and gives our Friends of Parliament a chance to practise their skills between sitting,” Scott said.
“As we look ahead to the 2027 Netball World Cup, we’re focused on strengthening partnerships, securing legacy funding for the benefit of our netball family, and ensuring every young person has access to quality facilities and programs to continue creating positive impacts across society.”
Lynda Voltz MP, and one of the Parliamentary Friends of Netball, said the installation represents the shared commitment of all sides of Parliament to supporting the sport.
“Netball is more than just a game — it’s a community connector, a pathway for leadership, and a sport that empowers women and girls right across New South Wales,” Ms Voltz said.
“Having a netball ring in Parliament is a powerful statement of the bipartisan support for our players, volunteers and fans, and recognition of the important role netball plays in Australian life — from the suburbs of Sydney to the smallest regional towns.”
Also at the unveiling of the netball ring were Netball Australia CEO Stacey West and Netball Australia Chair Liz Ellis AO, who continue to advocate for the sport’s inclusion in the 2032 Brisbane Olympic Games.
“The NSW Government is a wonderful supporter of netball right across the state and a terrific partner of Netball NSW and Netball Australia,” Netball Australia CEO Stacey West said.
